Lakeland Elementary's Talent Show

Lauren and her friend Ashlyn sang in the talent show Thursday night. They did a great job and received a certificate to get a milk shake at Red Robin. They sang Love Story by Taylor Swift.

Fishing Saturday

Every year Federal Way sponsors "Hooked on Fishing". We made 3 trips to Steel Lake so Hunter, Lauren, and Kiersten could catch a fish. In the lake there is a huge net where tons of rainbow trout are dumped for the kids. Volunteers help the kids and minutes later, you walk away with 2 fish each. The kids all had fun and Kiersten even got a Sponge Bob bobber as a prize.

Backyard Camping

Connor and Bryce went on an overnight hike with the Scouts so we thought it would be fun for the younger 3 to pitch the tent and have s'mores. Hunter, Lauren, and Kiersten really enjoyed roasting the marshmallows in the fireplace out back and making the s'mores. When it came time for them to sleep out, Hunter decided his bed was more comfortable so he slept inside. Lauren and Kiersten made it through the night but Kiersten said she was really freaked out and kept waking up. Typical Kiersten!

A New Friend

Kiersten found a new friend outside today. I don't know why my little princess loves bugs so much, but give her a roly-poly bug (potato bug), a slug, or now a caterpillar and she is in heaven. It was such a nice afternoon, we walked to the elementary school to pick up Hunter. Of course her caterpillar came with us.

Mary, Mary and the Unwanted Residents

Our garden is starting to take off. We have beans, peas, broccoli, carrots, and zucchini starting to come up. Our onions are doing great and most of the herbs are too. Only the basil looks like it won't make it. The lettuce and spinach are doing pretty good but I noticed some holes in the leaves this week. I know we are in a slug prone area so I laid down some slug bait yesterday. It rained most of last night and today. Hunter went out to check the garden this evening and came back with the news that slugs were everywhere! Kiersten and Hunter picked out the slugs from the garden and saved them to show Keith when he got home.

What Keeps Us Busy

It has been a few weeks since I last posted. I have not been ignoring the blog, just been incredibly busy! The past 2 Saturdays we have set up a booth for our vinyl business. Since these have been the first shows in 18 months, we had a lot of work to do to be ready. We have searched the internet high and low and attended other craft shows to get ideas where we needed to be to compete better with other vinyl companies. I think we have come a long way since we first started out.

This picture is from the Farmer's Market and is the way we set up our booth when we provide the tent and tables. We will be doing other Farmer's Markets through out the summer but for now, we need to replenish everything we sold! Today I even got a phone call from somebody who saw us at a show almost 2 years ago in Indiana. I don't care where the business comes from as long as it comes from somewhere!

Thanks to all who have helped out with ideas and word of mouth!

Check out our website! Keith is updating that as I update the blog.
